**“A lacerating story of loss and of seeking, written in prose that is charged with emotion but is always held under impeccable control.”ー***Kansas City Star

Rabbit, Run* is the book thatestablished John Updike as one of the major American novelists of hisーor any otherーgeneration. Its hero is Harry “Rabbit” Angstrom, a onetime high-school basketball star who on an impulse deserts his wife and son. He is twenty-six years old, a man-child caught in a struggle between instinct and thought, self and society, sexual gratification and family dutyーeven, in a sense, human hard-heartedness and divine Grace. Though his flight from home traces a zigzag of evasion, he holds to the faith that he is on the right path, an invisible line toward his own salvation as straight as a ruler’s edge.

THE INSPIRATION FOR THE OSCAR-NOMINATED MOTION PICTURE 'JOJO RABBIT' NOMINATED FOR 6 ACADEMY AWARDS INCLUDING BEST PICTURE AND BEST ADAPTED SCREENPLAY

This extraordinary novel is seen through the eyes of Johannes, an avid member of the Hitler Youth in the 1940s. After he is severely injured in a raid, he discovers his parents are hiding a Jewish girl called Elsa behind a false wall in their large house in Vienna.

His initial horror turns to interest, then love and obsession. After the disappearance of his parents, Johannes finds he is the only one aware of Elsa's existence in the house, the only one responsible for her survival. Both manipulating and manipulated, Johannes dreads the end of the war: with it will come the prospect of losing Elsa and their relationship, which ranges through passion and obsession, dependence and indifference, love and hate.

This gripping, masterful work examines truth and lies at both political and personal levels, laying bare the darkest corners of the human soul.

The Constant Rabbit The Sunday Times bestseller【電子書籍】[ Jasper Fforde ]

THE NUMBER ONE BESTSELLING AUTHOR. THE MOST ORIGINAL BOOK OF 2021

'Sheer inventiveness, wit, complexity, erudition, unexpectedness and originality' The Times

***

The village of Much Hemlock has always been a right-wing stronghold. British. Solid. Traditional.

Then they move in. They're different from everyone else: they have a weird religion, an aggressive vegan agenda, and too many children. They may seem quiet and peace-loving, but who knows where it could lead?

They are a family of human-sized rabbits, the result of an inexplicable anthropomorphising event half a century before.

With a mass rehoming to Wales for 1.2 million rabbits looming, long-term resident Peter Knox is drawn from his customary spot on the fence and must choose his corner: a cosy job-for-life at the Rabbit Compliance Taskforce, or stand with the rabbits - and weather the full brunt of human savagery.

It'll take a rabbit to teach a human humanity . . .

PRAISE FOR JASPER FFORDE

'The Constant Rabbit is Jasper Fforde's most chilling and realistic book yet' Guardian

'You won't read anything quite like this in 2020 - or beyond that too' CultureFly

'Lovely little satire...wonderfully imaginative and very funny.' - Spectator

'Fforde presents a milquetoast cog in an absurdly bureaucratic wheel, this time cleverly skewering Brexit, conservative politics, and white supremacy in this surprisingly uplifting tale of one man doing his best, even if it is the bare minimum.' Booklist

'The Constant Rabbit is designed to shake readers out of that complacency: to recognise that merely holding liberal values is not enough to prevent the quickening advance of racism and xenophobia in this country. One must act.' Financial Times

'A serious minded comedy' Mail on Sunday

READERS LOVE THE CONSTANT RABBIT

'This is Jasper Fforde at his absolute best. Clever, thought-provoking and relevant, whilst maintaining the absurdity that we have come to love Fforde for' 5 STARS

'A real classic - the sort of book that will be read in fifty or a hundred years' time' 5 STARS

'[Jasper Fforde's] ability to take something relatively normal and turn it on it's head is sublime, ridiculous and so enjoyable! Quirky, funny, satirical tale with pertinent reflections on current times.' 5 STARS

'This book couldn't have come at a better time. Frighteningly poignant given the state of world. It's a truly wonderful piece of work that belongs right up there with Orwell.' 5 STARS

'This is Jasper Fforde at his finest. A witty, thought provoking read that makes you sit up and take note of all the things going on around you. Love this author, was already a fan, but now even more so.' 5 STARS

'I knew within minutes of starting the opening chapter that this was Fforde at the top of his game.' 5 STARS

Rabbit Decolonizes the Forest Stories from the Euchee Reservation【電子書籍】[ Gregory H. Bigler ]

Before their forced removal to Oklahoma in the 1830s, the Euchee people lived in Georgia and other southeastern territories. Today the Euchees are enrolled members of the Muscogee Nation of Oklahoma, but they possess their own language, culture, and traditions. This unique collection by Euchee citizen Gregory H. Bigler combines traditional di’ile (Euchee tales), personal recollections, and contemporary stories to portray a way of life often hidden from view.

Written in an engaging, down-to-earth style, the stories in this book immerse the reader in the everyday experiences of the Euchee community. With his gift for storytelling, Bigler welcomes readers into the lives and culture of the people whose stories he has heard or observed throughout his life and career as a lawyer and judge. Unforgettable characters appear or reappear in various settings, and these figures, whether animal or human, are bound to bring forth a chuckle or leave the reader wanting to learn more about their history. Some of the tales address serious legal injustices, while others poke gentle fun at lofty academic constructs. In the title story, for example, the mischievous character Shajwane (Rabbit), resolves to decolonize the forest, to strip away its “false narrative,” by literally removing all new growth from the trees.

These stories bring to life Euchee traditions that include family ties, the stomp dance, and communal cooking and feasting. Woven throughout is the sacred element of spirit. As Bigler explains in his introduction, the “spiritual” for Euchees signifies not a Western quest for peace or centeredness but a world filled with animate spirits that interact with all of usーas we see them, feel them, or seek them out.

The Euchee people are unknown to most Americans. They inhabit a small area southwest of Tulsa and have yet to receive federal recognition. Yet even in their modern-day livesーas these stories capture so beautifullyーthe Euchee people remain fiercely determined to show “they are still here.”

Flop Ear, the Funny Rabbit: His Many Adventures【電子書籍】[ Richard Barnum ]

Once upon a time, not so very many years ago, a family of rabbits lived in the woods near the top of a mountain. There were six in the family, counting Flop Ear, the funny rabbit, and I speak of him first because this story is going to be mostly about him and his adventures, or what happened to Flop Ear. Besides Flop Ear there was his mother, Mrs. Bunny, his father, Mr. Bunny, and Lady Munch, who was the grandmother. The reason the grandmother had that name was because she always made her mouth go in such a queer, wobbling way when she munched, or chewed, the cabbages or the carrots. Then there was Pink Nose, a brother to Flop Ear, and Snuggle, a little rabbit. Snuggle was called that because she always wanted to cuddle up, or snuggle close, to her mother. And you can easily guess why Pink Nose had his name. Yes, you have guessed it. His nose was as pink as a baby’s toes. And the reason Flop Ear had his name was because one of his ears flopped over to one side, as if it were going to fall off his head. But of course it never did. The two ears of most rabbits stand up straight, when they are not stretched back along their backs, but when Flop Ear wanted to put both his ears up straight only one would go, and the other dropped down in a queer way.

The Velveteen Rabbit illustrated【電子書籍】[ Margery Williams Bianco ]

The Velveteen Rabbit illustrated Margery Williams Bianco - THERE was once a velveteen rabbit, and in the beginning he was really splendid. He was fat and bunchy, as a rabbit should be; his coat was spotted brown and white, he had real thread whiskers, and his ears were lined with pink sateen. On Christmas morning, when he sat wedged in the top of the Boy's stocking, with a sprig of holly between his paws, the effect was charming. There were other things in the stocking, nuts and oranges and a toy engine, and chocolate almonds and a clockwork mouse, but the Rabbit was quite the best of all. For at least two hours the Boy loved him, and then Aunts and Uncles came to dinner, and there was a great rustling of tissue paper and unwrapping of parcels, and in the excitement of looking at all the new presents the Velveteen Rabbit was forgotten.
