Dementia is hugely underdiagnosed and under-managed partly due to stretched specialist services. Written by a team involved in a pioneering community-based primary care service, this practical book brings together 99 case studies from the frontline in providing early intervention for people seeking help for suspected dementia. Both typical and atypical cases of Alzheimer's disease and other dementias are examined, familiarising readers with possible patient scenarios and the recommended management strategies. Useful tools such as example forms for history taking and the use of a modified General Practitioner Assessment of Cognition (GPCOG) equip multidisciplinary teams with the knowledge needed for early identification of dementia. The final chapter sets out key considerations in primary care such as carer support, sharing diagnoses, and forming a dementia-friendly community. The emphasis on collaborative care between the medical and social care provides guidance for post-diagnostic support.
Kirja vie matkalle hy?nteisten j?nnitt?v??n maailmaan.
Maapallolla el?? 200 miljoonaa hy?nteist? jokaista ihmist? kohden. Ilman n?it? pikkuotuksia el?m? planeetaltamme katoaisi kokonaan.

Vaikka hy?nteisi? on maailmassa valtavasti, niiden m??r? on kuitenkin k??ntynyt laskuun.

This book is the first comprehensive book about reservoir computing (RC). RC is a powerful and broadly applicable computational framework based on recurrent neural networks. Its advantages lie in small training data set requirements, fast training, inherent memory and high flexibility for various hardware implementations. It originated from computational neuroscience and machine learning but has, in recent years, spread dramatically, and has been introduced into a wide variety of fields, including complex systems science, physics, material science, biological science, quantum machine learning, optical communication systems, and robotics. Reviewing the current state of the art and providing a concise guide to the field, this book introduces readers to its basic concepts, theory, techniques, physical implementations and applications.

The book is sub-structured into two major parts: theory and physical implementations. Both parts consist of a compilation of chapters, authored byleading experts in their respective fields. The first part is devoted to theoretical developments of RC, extending the framework from the conventional recurrent neural network context to a more general dynamical systems context. With this broadened perspective, RC is not restricted to the area of machine learning but is being connected to a much wider class of systems. The second part of the book focuses on the utilization of physical dynamical systems as reservoirs, a framework referred to as physical reservoir computing. A variety of physical systems and substrates have already been suggested and used for the implementation of reservoir computing. Among these physical systems which cover a wide range of spatial and temporal scales, are mechanical and optical systems, nanomaterials, spintronics, and quantum many body systems.

This book offers a valuable resource for researchers (Ph.D. students and experts alike) and practitioners working in the field of machine learning, artificial intelligence, robotics, neuromorphic computing, complex systems, and physics.

Mathematical methods are essential tools for all physical scientists. This book provides a comprehensive tour of the mathematical knowledge and techniques that are needed by students across the physical sciences. In contrast to more traditional textbooks, all the material is presented in the form of exercises. Within these exercises, basic mathematical theory and its applications in the physical sciences are well integrated. In this way, the mathematical insights that readers acquire are driven by their physical-science insight. This third edition has been completely revised: new material has been added to most chapters, and two completely new chapters on probability and statistics and on inverse problems have been added. This guided tour of mathematical techniques is instructive, applied, and fun. This book is targeted for all students of the physical sciences. It can serve as a stand-alone text, or as a source of exercises and examples to complement other textbooks.

This is the completely revised and updated version of the popular and highly regarded textbook, Applied Geophysics. It describes the physical methods involved in exploration for hydrocarbons and minerals, which include gravity, magnetic, seismic, electrical, electromagnetic, radioactivity, and well-logging methods. All aspects of these methods are described, including basic theory, field equipment, techniques of data acquisition, data processing and interpretation, with the objective of locating commercial deposits of minerals, oil, and gas and determining their extent. In the fourteen years or so since the first edition of Applied Geophysics, many changes have taken place in this field, mainly as the result of new techniques, better instrumentation, and increased use of computers in the field and in the interpretation of data. The authors describe these changes in considerable detail, including improved methods of solving the inverse problem, specialized seismic methods, magnetotellurics as a practical exploration method, time-domain electromagnetic methods, increased use of gamma-ray spectrometers, and improved well-logging methods and interpretation.
